There’s an analogy I use in class when we talk about CBD or cannabidiol, that wonderful popular non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. I like to say that it’s like taking a vitamin C pill; good for you and ok, but eating the whole orange is way better. Same with cannabis! Currently there’s a huge interest in CBD, which I think is great for getting people familiar with the healing properties of cannabis. But what kinda bugs me is that folks are missing out on all the other beneficial components of cannabis when they only focus on CBD. Now I know from teaching cooking with cannabis for years that some people are just plain scared of pot. I get it – years of propaganda has put fear in the hearts of many regarding the ‘high’. I’ve had people worried about hallucinations or jumping out of windows….I’ve found the best way to combat fear is with information and hopefully experimentation. There have been wonderful folks in class who had a lot of fear about pot, but with a little reading up and playing around they’re happy stoners now. I guess I’m saying CBD is great and better than nothing, but the whole plant is truly your friend!!
Can you all feel the tingle in the air? It’s coming, that wonderful yearly turning away and the beginning of the gathering in…..I love Fall, and that spicy feeling that happens right around this time just makes me want to light the fire, even though it’ll be 78 later. What’s also happening of course is the girls – my beautiful cannabis plants – are getting ready . This year I grew several strains, and they all look a bit different. I’m figuring out the new drying system and getting excited to see what they’ll taste like. Honestly though the best thing about growing cannabis is being able to manage every phase of my medication. I’m also starting to use the big fan leaves like I would parsley; they have a light vegetal taste and look beautiful on the plate. Just getting ready for a fine fall over here, and hopefully a fine giant harvest from my girls!
All of my life my engine has run fast. Don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people that has to fight being 3 steps ahead in the conversation. I’ve had to learn to slow down and listen, as well as slow down and wait….Point is, my pal cannabis has been very helpful here. I’m not talking about getting all high and spacing out, I’m talking about the wonderful soothing clam that cannabis can provide. I’ve been able to breathe, take a minute, and truly listen now that my brain has calmed down a bit. I have also included daily mindfulness meditation as a part of my Mental Traffic Management plan, and that plus the Indica cannabis I use has equaled WAY better everything. Cannabis is not a miracle, and I do need to pay attention to how relaxed I get, but if you like me are a hyperactive nut case, cannabis will help fer sure!!
