So after 9 months of mostly fun and some hard work, Val Russell McKinley and I published our book, “EveryDayMaryJ, A Practical Guide to Cooking with Cannabis”. Response has been good and we’re slowly but surely getting the word out. But! Turns out that’s the hard part. It seemed to me that after all our efforts people would just automatically know that it’s a damn fine book, super useful, full of info. But as it turns out, one must push and prod all the time. That’s every day…..So we don’t want to bug you, but know that if you see a lot of posts about “EveryDayMaryJ”, we’re just trying to sell books! I’m already working on some recipes and potions for the next book, but first I need to know you all are cooking with cannabis. So please – for your health, for the planet, and for us…..get “EveryDayMaryJ” and we’ll all be happier. That’s www.everydaymaryj.com – and thank you so, so much.
Hasn’t this been a year? I don’t know about you all, but my life has gone through some wonderful, painful, and epic changes. I truly feel that our friend cannabis absolutely helped me through the worst of it; whether emotional angst or weird body stuff, cannabis got me through. And the more I use cannabis and learn about its healing properties the more I understand the importance of this ancient healing plant. I’m absolutely grateful for this, as well as being grateful for you. I don’t want to be trite, but to all of you who have come to a Cooking with Cannabis class, asked me canna questions on FB, or needed input on CBD – thanks! To be able to help even a little, to see someone get off all those pills, to see a puppy calm and healed – that’s all down to the goodness of cannabis, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me help just a little. So very grateful for all of you!!
Lord have mercy I feel like I’m about the give birth! Our new cookbook, EveryDayMaryJ will be published really soon. I’m so excited, as this is a distillation of my years teaching cooking with cannabis. There are a lot of good, simple, delicious and stony recipes as well as lots of info and incredible pictures (food porn) by my great friend Valerie McKinley. Way back in February I was all oh, this won’t take long and, an ebook? easy! I figured we’d just gather all my recipes together and call it a book. Ha. Now I know differently – gestation takes time – but I do think it’s a good read and you’ll have fun with it. If you’ve never cooked with cannabis or want to know more about the whole thing, this is the book for you! Please check back here soon or check out my social media pages for updates. Val and I both hope you get happy healing and delicious food from our book, EveryDayMaryJ; check www.everydaymaryj.com for updates. More soon!!
Can you all feel the tingle in the air? It’s coming, that wonderful yearly turning away and the beginning of the gathering in…..I love Fall, and that spicy feeling that happens right around this time just makes me want to light the fire, even though it’ll be 78 later. What’s also happening of course is the girls – my beautiful cannabis plants – are getting ready . This year I grew several strains, and they all look a bit different. I’m figuring out the new drying system and getting excited to see what they’ll taste like. Honestly though the best thing about growing cannabis is being able to manage every phase of my medication. I’m also starting to use the big fan leaves like I would parsley; they have a light vegetal taste and look beautiful on the plate. Just getting ready for a fine fall over here, and hopefully a fine giant harvest from my girls!
This book is a work in progress, but will hopefully be the culmination of years of teaching cooking with cannabis! When my book partner Val and I decided to do this in January, we thought oh, no biggie, a couple months and we’re home free. Oh my lord no…..it’s way more complex than we thought. Turns out just cuz you’re writing a book on cooking with cannabis that doesn’t mean everyone will be eager to publish it. I really want to get what I’ve learned out there so that more folks can feel better and get well with our friend cannabis. What with proposals and rough drafts and rewrites and everything, I think now we’re looking at the end of the year. There’s just so much to learn about the wonders of cannabis; please send positive completion vibes! Yours in cannabis and health…. M
I try to not continually wax poetic about cannabis, but damn, the stuff is the BEST. I was talking to a friend today who has taken all the pills but is still wondering how to get better. It hurts my heart to run into so many people who have physical problems that could be easily solved with cannabis, but the years of prohibition and false information have left a lot of people just plain scared of pot. I have to say stop being scared – this is truly the best natural medicine I have ever found. I too was taking all the pills and doing everything I could to stop the pain. This was not always to healthy effect, I might add. I actually used to have a 3 drug limit; I had to try and not go above three different types of medicine to relieve my pain. Now, with wonderful lovely cannabis I have no pain, move well, and am (almost always) calm and happy. I have to reiterate, lose the pills and try cannabis – you’ll get well!! Welcome to my new and improved website! I want to share some pics with you from a couple recent classes so you can see how fun they are. I’m so very thankful to get to help you learn how to cook; the look on someone’s face when their pain disappears or when they can finally sleep in priceless. Huge thanks for letting me help, and I hope you get some good stuff from this new website too. Onward citizens!
