August!

My darlings, welcome to August. The month of glorious fruit, too much sun, and a lot of eating outside. I’m including a couple of recipes for your August – or anytime – enjoyment. These are great as you can tailor the amount you use to your needs, and no one has to be concerned about over doing it. I want you to have healthy fun and enjoyable medication, and these will do it!

                                 GREEN THAI PEANUT SAUCE

This is a fine sauce to have on hand; it can take sautéed vegetables and a little protein and rice to a whole new place. For about 2 cups, you’ll need:

½ C. natural peanut butter

2 whole jalapenos, seeded and chopped (leave in some seeds if you like it hot)

1 thumb-sized piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped

2-3 large cloves garlic, peeled and chopped

1 Tb. sugar

2 Tb. infused peanut oil (try 1 Tb infused oil and 1 Tb. plain for smaller dosage)

4 Tb. Thai fish sauce (nam pla)

6 Tb. fresh lime juice

Toss all of the above in a blender and blend till smooth. Store it in the fridge and use on almost everything; I love it with chicken skewers or rice noodle salad – yum!

                                            GREEN KETCHUP

Ketchup is such a ubiquitous condiment, why not enjoy it medicated? This is delicious and a fine way to get your medicine. For approx. 1 cup, you’ll need:

1 Tb. infused oil, or 6 droppers Green Revolution Avocado Oil Tincture 1:20

1 small can (6 oz.) tomato paste

2 Tb. apple cider vinegar

½ C. water

1Tb. brown sugar

1 tsp. each salt, garlic powder, onion powder

½ tsp anchovy paste (optional)

½ tsp. Chipotle powder (also optional, gives a more BBQ flavor)

Whisk all of the ingredients together in a medium saucepan and bring to a low boil. Immediately turn it down to the lowest simmer. Cover the pan and cook anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, just remember to keep the heat loooooooow. When it’s thickened allow to cool then store in the fridge – your hotdogs will say thanks!!

Huge Change

2021-11-13T17:52:29+00:00April 3rd, 2021|

Recently I had to go to the emergency room for some internal weirdness. All is well now and things are ok, but when I got home (after 7 hours of looking at cute docs and me in my sexy hospital gown) I had a big damn realization. I need to be very aware of my internal workings because of scar tissue from past surgeries, etc. The (totally hot) doc asked me if I needed anything for pain and I said no. During the course of my stay he asked me probably four times if I needed anything for pain and I kept saying no. THIS IS A MIRACLE! I didn’t even realize I had done that till I got home and then I went….. damn. Historically I’ve been all about the pills, to the point of thinking about them and wanting them all damn day. I used to have a 3 drug rule when partying! Now thanks to cannabis I’m almost always pain free, I don’t need nasty pharmaceuticals, and I never look in people’s medicine cabinets anymore. Yes, I’ve done that – never took anything, but I can totally see how the pill thing can get out of control. With cannabis, I’m productive and happy and waaaay more chill. So now that things are opening up, now that we can start to think about seeing each other again, I just have to say THANK YOU to cannabis. No more pills, no more weirdness, just happy healthy healing. WAHOO!

Don’t Be Scared

In my teaching cooking with cannabis one thing continues to stand out. Lots of people seem to be afraid of the high. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked to folks about the healing properties of cannabis, and their main question is what about the high? Will I jump off a building/go crazy/eat the cat/ drool? Well, of course not, but some full grown intelligent humans remain scared of the pot. I blame prohibition; years of no or wrong information have left confusion in their wake. Now many of these same folks, because doctors are god, will take opioids and all the weird over the counter stuff, in spite of the side effects and a nasty high. I took pain meds for years, and let me tell you, that isn’t about euphoria. I found pills to be depressing and not healing at all, but cannabis – seriously great. And if you get a little goofy, or happy, or horny – isn’t that WAY better than being depressed and sad? So lose the pills and the over the counter stuff; you are an intelligent and brave individual…. try cannabis!!

Large Thanks

Hasn’t this been a year? I don’t know about you all, but my life has gone through some wonderful, painful, and epic changes. I truly feel that our friend cannabis absolutely helped me through the worst of it; whether emotional angst or weird body stuff, cannabis got me through. And the more I use cannabis and learn about its healing properties the more I understand the importance of this ancient healing plant. I’m absolutely grateful for this, as well as being grateful for you. I don’t want to be trite, but to all of you who have come to a Cooking with Cannabis class, asked me canna questions on FB, or needed input on CBD – thanks! To be able to help even a little, to see someone get off all those pills, to see a puppy calm and healed – that’s all down to the goodness of cannabis, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me help just a little. So very grateful for all of you!!

Cannabis = Bye Bye Pillz!

I try to not continually wax poetic about cannabis, but damn, the stuff is the BEST. I was talking to a friend today who has taken all the pills but is still wondering how to get better. It hurts my heart to run into so many people who have physical problems that could be easily solved with cannabis, but the years of prohibition and false information have left a lot of people just plain scared of pot. I have to say stop being scared – this is truly the best natural medicine I have ever found. I too was taking all the pills and doing everything I could to stop the pain. This was not always to healthy effect, I might add. I actually used to have a 3 drug limit; I had to try and not go above three different types of medicine to relieve my pain. Now, with wonderful lovely cannabis I have no pain, move well, and am (almost always) calm and happy. I have to reiterate, lose the pills and try cannabis – you’ll get well!!
